CELEBRATING 10 YEARS
The Best is Yet to Come
The Young Academy of Irish Dance was established in September of 2009 under the direction of Janice Young TCRG ADCRG. The Academy is open in four locations; Chateauguay, Ormstown, NDG and Westmount.
Classes are offered for children ages 5 and up, teens and adults. We also have a new Mini Jig program for children Ages 3- 5.
Registrations are welcome year round in all levels from beginner to championship. Students of the Academy will be introduced to both solo and team dances, as well as performance choreography.
The Young Academy is very visible in its communities as dancers perform year round at local events and shows. We participate in both the Montreal and Chateauguay St Patrick's Day Parades. The school offers an annual show where dancers of all levels have the opportunity to showcase their talent to family and friends.
The Academy also takes part in dance competitions year round. Our dancers compete throughout Canada, the United States and Internationally. Recently, dancers have competed at the Eastern Canadian Championships, North American Championships, All Ireland Championships, and the World Championships.
The Young Academy of Irish Dance strives to promote an environment where every dancer has the opportunity to progress to the best of their ability. Dancers are encouraged to participate in performances and competitions, all which facilitate self confidence and motivation.
At the Young Academy our goal is to offer quality instruction by providing multiple types of classes to our dancers such as technique focused, strength training, stamina building, and specialty workshops. Our teaching approach includes mixed level classes to allow students from all levels to interact and learn from one another. This provides an open learning environment where every dancer is important at the Young Academy, therefore given equal attention and opportunity to succeed while bringing students together and learning to work as a team.
"NOT ONLY DANCE SKILLS, BUT LIFE SKILLS"
We encourage dancers to participate in competitions because we believe that the skills required to be successful in competition will make you successful in daily life as well. These skills include; a strong work ethic, dedication, goal setting, dealing with loss, and time management are all applicable to both competitive dance and life.
The Academy performance troupe is available all year long to perform at any special events. The troupe includes younger and older dancers performing traditional and modern choreography in both soft and hard shoe. We can accommodate to any size venue as well as work with you on any special requests you may have for your event.
